Concentrating on the cardiovascular, diabetic, hepatic, pulmonary and renal therapeutic areas allows PBI to produce data sets comprised of interdependent physiological and biomarker measurements. Our experience in systematic and deliberate development, validation and application of models and assays within these therapeutic areas allows PBI to provide collaborative study design to support project goals.
Medically Complex Modeling
PBI’s staff has the experience, knowledge, technology and staff to address all facets of disease and pharmacological intervention. We are able to study how the heart, kidney, lungs and liver impact each other during disease progression:
- The 5/6 Nephrectomy model of renal insufficiency induces significant cardiac and vascular dysfunction as well as general inflammation.
- Diabetic and metabolic syndrome models display concurrent renal, cardiac, vascular and liver involvement.
- Pulmonary disease and impaired gas exchange elicit right ventricle hypertrophy and pulmonary vascular remodeling.
